Case Worker

The Problem: A case worker has had a client on a program of regular drug screens, including alcohol. She has good reason to believe that the client is regularly intoxicated but the drug screens continue to come up negative.

The Solution: The worker calls Span for advice. Span informs her the regular urine drug screening will only detect alcohol consumption for four to six hours. They surmise that the client drinks only in the evening and that the alcohol metabolite is already out of the system by the next days. Span advises putting the client under Random Management using a new technology that measures alcohol consumption for up to thirty hours.

The Result: Test findings are consistently positive for alcohol and the worker is able to make recommendations for referral to rehabilitation.
